Summer Streets 2018

We enjoyed the last Summer Streets of 2018!

We had been away from New York City for a few weeks, and, as the summer winds down with back-to-school shopping and thoughts of fall, we needed something to connect us back.

Thank goodness for Summer Streets!

We were lucky to take part in the last one of the summer this past Saturday. Summer Streets closes Park Avenue all the way down to Union Square, then on to the Brooklyn Bridge. I though we might go 20 blocks or so to one of the rest stations where there was music, crafts, and food. That seemed like a great goal after a hearty breakfast at home. So yes, we did make it there...

But our son wasn’t done. We made it to Astor place—about another 40 blocks! He was also a lot faster on his scooter than I remember, so what started as a walk became a jog and then a run. I am so proud, but a little tired.

Our son loves our city, and we explore it as much as we can. I think this is what powered him, block after block after block, experiencing it in this most unique way.

Thank you New York City...
