Girls, connect with the stars.
Every culture has had a connection to the stars. Some cultures applied their gods to the twinkling dots. Some saw comets as warnings or signs of things to come. Other cultures used the stars to know when to plant crops or which direction to sail.
Today, we know that there are infinite possibilities in those stars. And with every new discovery, we learn of another universe of ideas to explore. That is what Astronomy Day is all about.
Girls can apply their curiosity, creativity, and intelligence to explore new universes. They may make a discovery that will make the world a better place! Encourage a girl to like math and science and the joy of discovery. Here are two places for a fun introduction to the stars:
- Hayden Planetarium, American Museum of Natural History, New York City
- Griffith Observatory, Los Angeles
