What is it to honor children?
How best to do it? Maybe by working towards peace in dangerous places, realizing that we all are unique but also share so many similarities. Or maybe help the environment so it last for millennia more? Or by creating education opportunities so more children have a chance?
Yes to all of these.
Children’s Day is a great start, but action is what’s real. Sometimes though we need a moment to remind us about what is really important, and today could be just that moment.
Children’s Day is celebrated all over the world on different days. June 1 is very common, November 20 is designated by the U.N., in South Korea 어린이날 is May 5, and today, the second Sunday in June we celebrate here in the U.S.
So how do we create that action? It is hard for one person to change the world, but it is easy to create a little bit of change for the children close to you, be it your own kids, nieces and nephews, or with your friend’s kids.
We have something that can help. The best way to get going is to make a plan. Download and print our Children’s Day action plan, where you can create a list of things you will do for the kids around you to improve their lives. Post it to the fridge, or wherever it will help you the most.
